Omega Delta Sigma Brings The Murph Challenge Back To Penn State

Think you can run a mile, knock out 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 air squats, then run another mile?

Omega Delta Sigma and the Arnold Air Society are giving students, athletes, and community members the chance to find out.

Penn State’s veterans’ fraternity is hosting the 2026 Michael Murphy Memorial Warrior Games on September 13 at 1 p.m. in the Wagner Gym.

Participants can take on the workout individually and complete each challenge on their own, or with a team of four to split the reps and encourage each other.

The challenge is held in honor of Lt. Michael P. Murphy, a Penn State alum and Navy SEAL who lost his life in Afghanistan in 2005. Murphy was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor after sacrificing his life while attempting to save his teammates during Operation Red Wings.

The workout itself is based on one of Murphy’s favorite routines and has become a nationwide fitness challenge honoring his legacy. All proceeds go to the Lt. Michael P. Murphy Scholarship Foundation.

Whether solo or with a team, every person must pay $20 for entry and will receive a T-shirt. If you buy a ticket at the event, it is $25 per person, with limited T-shirt availability. To register, visit the registration page.

Prizes will be awarded to the fastest female, fastest male, and fastest team.
