Penn State football wide receiver Karon Brookins has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use, and purchasing alcohol as a minor, according to court documents.

Brookins’ alleged offense happened on May 5, and he was subsequently charged on August 18. The redshirt-freshman receiver’s bail was set at release on recognizance (ROR) on September 1.

Penn State did not respond to Onward State’s request for comment before publication.

Brookins played in Penn State’s season-opening win against Marshall, despite the pending charges. He recorded one reception for eight yards.

Brookins committed to transfer to Penn State on January 1, following Matt Campbell from Iowa State. He was a three-star transfer after not seeing any action in his lone season with the Cyclones.

As a high school recruit, Brookins was also a three-star, ranked as the No. 221 wide receiver and No. 43 player from New Jersey, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound receiver has four years of eligibility left.
