Penn State Women’s Volleyball Falls To No. 14 In Latest AVCA Poll
Penn State women’s volleyball dropped to No. 14 in the latest AVCA Poll, the association announced Monday.
The fall in the rankings came after a loss to the then-ranked No. 16 Tennessee Volunteers, who defeated the Nittany Lions 3-1. It was a match Penn State had a chance to continue its strong form after winning its previous five matches, including a sweep over then-No. 4 Stanford. It marked Penn State’s second loss of the season, the only other loss coming to another top-10 team in Kentucky on September 6.
Tennessee leapfrogged Penn State after Sunday’s match, moving three spots up to No. 13 in the rankings. The Nittany Lions are set to begin Big Ten play, with a weekend road trip against Michigan and Michigan State due up. The team will try to recover lost ground before heading back to Rec Hall for a highly-anticipated match against No.1-ranked Nebraska on October 1.
