Penn State Transportation Services has announced traffic, parking, and transit impacts due to the Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 25.

Folks attending the Penn State women’s hockey matchup against No. 2 Ohio State or the swimming and diving meet should enter from Park Ave. to Stadium West or from Porter Road via College Ave. to access Jordan East parking.

Parade Route & Parking Information

The parade route is as follows and will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 5:30 p.m. and will remain closed until the end of the parade.

All vehicles must be removed from College Ave. before the parade begins.

• Curtin Road (parade will travel west and cross University Drive)
• West on Curtin Road to Bigler Road
• South on Bigler Road to Pollock Road
• West on Pollock Road to Shortlidge Road
• South on Shortlidge Road to College Ave.
• West on College Ave. to Burrowes Road
• North on Burrowes Road to Curtin Road

The parade will end at the Burrowes Road and Curtin Road intersection.

Folks who wish to park on campus may do so in the East Parking Deck, the Eisenhower Parking Deck, the HUB Parking Deck (visitors cannot exit the deck from 5:30 p.m. until the parade concludes), the Nittany Parking Deck, and the West Parking Deck.

Parking is available for $2 for the first hour and $1 per hour for additional hours.

Parade-Related Road Closures

Folks should be cautious while traveling through campus due to the following road closures throughout the day.

• Porter Road between Curtin Road and the southernmost entrance to the Jordan East parking area (4:30 p.m. to around 7 p.m)
• Curtin Road between University Drive and Porter Road (4:30 p.m. until the end of the parade)
• Curtin Road between University Drive and Bigler Road
• Bigler Road between Curtin Road and Pollock Road
• Pollock Road between Bigler Road and Shortlidge Road
• Shortlidge Road between Pollock Road and College Ave.
• College Ave. between Shortlidge Road and Burrowes Road
• Burrowes Road between College Ave. and Curtin Road
• Curtin Road will be closed between Atherton Street and Burrowes Road from 5:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. due to the Guard the Lion Shrine event

Penn State University Police will be directing traffic at various intersections throughout campus to ensure safe traffic operations; however, heavy delays are to be expected.

Lot Impacts

Folks who typically park on campus and do not wish to remain parked until the end of the homecoming parade should move their vehicles from the following lots before 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

• HUB Parking Deck

• Red H
• Green C
• Red K

Fraser Road will be open to Curtin Road; however, those wishing to use normal exit routes should also move their vehicles from the following lots before 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

• Old Main
• Brown
• Brown E
• Brown A

CATA Bus & Campus Shuttle Service

Significant changes will be made to the CATABUS routes — including the Blue Loop, White Loop, and the Red Link — from 5 p.m. until approximately 9 p.m. on Friday.

There will be no service provided to the following bus stop locations during the parade:

• Curtin Road (Pattee Transit Center (Eastbound and Westbound), Pavilion Theatre, Visual Arts Building, East Halls, McCoy Natatorium, IM Building, Shields Building, Bryce Jordan Ticket Center, and Stadium West)
• Burrowes Road (all stops)
• Porter Road (Beaver Stadium, Athletic Administration, Jordan East Parking, and Medlar Field)
• Hastings Road (all stops)
• Bigler Road (all stops)
• Pollock Road (all stops)
• Shortlidge Road (all stops)
• College Ave. (all stops between University Drive and Atherton Street)
• Pugh Street (between Fairmont Ave. and College Ave.)
