Penn State women’s hockey freshman goaltender Morgan Stickney received the award of AHA Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

The freshman out of St. Charles, Missouri, played all 60:46 for the Nittany Lions in their 2-1 overtime loss to No. 2 Ohio State. Stickney recorded 44 saves while only allowing two goals in her collegiate debut. In the first period alone, she had 15 saves, allowing zero shots against a tough Ohio State offense.

“She takes everything in stride, like an egoless human. We’re really proud of the effort that put forth and gave us a chance to win that game,” Jeff Kampersal said postgame.

The Nittany Lions are back home at Pegula Ice Arena at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 2, as they host the Robert Morris Colonials. The game will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.
