Penn State Hillel Offering October 7 Memorial Events

Penn State Hillel is set to host numerous events in honor of the third anniversary of the events of October 7.

Hillel is the foundation for Jewish Campus Life at Penn State University. Its mission is to enrich the lives of the estimated 5,000 Jewish students on campus.

Below is a compiled list of the events:

Monday, October 5

Omer Shem Tov Conversation

Penn State Hillel is set to host a conversation and Q&A with October 7 hostage survivor Omer Shem-Tov at 80 S. Garner Street.

The event is RSVP only. Folks can register and learn more here.

Tuesday, October 6

Recipes with Memory

Hillel will then host a Recipes with Memory event in the Gutterman Family Center on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Folks will get the opportunity to cook different victims’ favorite meals.

Wednesday, October 7

Human Stories Exhibit & Stickers of Meaning

A Human Stories Exhibit will be held on the HUB lawn from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. TIDES therapists will be available at the Gutterman Family Center from 2 to 6 p.m.

Stickers of Meaning at the Gutterman Family Center will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., providing attendees with a space to remember, share, honor, and light candles together.

Thursday, October 8

Challah for Hope

Challah for Hope will bake Itay Chen’s favorite chocolate chip cookies at the Gutterman Family Center at 6 p.m. on Thursday.

Chen was a 19-year-old dual citizen serving in the Israeli military who was killed in the October 7 attacks. His remains were held in Gaza for 760 days until they were returned in November 2025.
