Penn State Football Enters Michigan Game As Underdogs For First Time This Season

For the first time all season, Penn State football will be the underdog.
The Nittany Lions travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for a Big Ten matchup against the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Penn State has fallen into a three-game conference skid, most recently losing to USC at home during the White Out game.
Michigan, 3-2, has also dropped every game so far against a Big Ten opponent — most recently a 20-14 loss to Minnesota.
The Nittany Lions enter Saturday as 6.5-point underdogs at -102 odds and an even +200 moneyline, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Seventy percent of bettors have chosen Michigan’s moneyline (-245 odds), while 57% have taken Penn State to cover the spread. The Wolverines are 3-0 at home this season, including a win over then-ranked No. 11 Oklahoma.
The over/under is set at 42.5.
Michigan is fresh off a bye week heading into Saturday and, despite public opinion, will retain Bryce Underwood as its starting quarterback. Underwood, the 6-foot-4 sophomore quarterback, has eclipsed 200 passing yards just twice this season. He’s also had at least one turnover in all but one game this season (Oklahoma).
The Wolverines’ only other win was the infamous two-attempt Hail Mary against Western Michigan.
Penn State has posted a positive turnover differential this season, recovering four fumbles while giving up only one, and forcing five interceptions while Rocco Becht has only thrown three. However, the Nittany Lions lost the turnover battle on Saturday in a costly way when Brett Eskildsen fumbled on Penn State’s last drive to seal the game.
The Wolverines own the all-time record, 17-10, with a 9-4 record against the Nittany Lions at the Big House. Michigan has won the last three matchups, and Penn State has lost seven of its last 10 against the Wolverines.
For the first time this season, DraftKings does not offer National Championship odds on the Nittany Lions. Michigan’s odds are set at +100000, along with Virginia Tech (+100000) and Minnesota (+100000).
