Caramel Afternoon Closing Downtown Location

Caramel Afternoon’s Pastry and Catering announced it will close its downtown shop on Sunday in a social media post.

The store, located at 214 E. Calder Way, is closing after the owner, Seyhan Baskaya, decided to focus solely on the catering side of the business.

“After a year and a half of running the shop, I’ve realized that most of my revenue comes from my catering business, and I don’t necessarily need a 2,600-square-foot space to continue growing that part of my business,” Baskaya wrote in a social media post.

“Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a more suitable location to keep the shop going, so I’ve decided it’s time to close this chapter and sell the equipment I no longer need.”

She said the shop will remain open through Sunday and encouraged her loyal customers to stop by to say goodbye, share a moment, or enjoy their favorite pastries one last time.

Baskaya has also created an open house event on Facebook Marketplace to sell the shop’s equipment and assets.

“It will be here at 214 E. Calder Way, State College, PA, on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. If you know any restaurant owners, coffee shop owners, or bakery owners who might be interested, I would truly appreciate it if you could spread the word and share the event with them,” she said.
