[Photo Story] Penn State vs. Michigan

Sigh.
Penn State football hit the road again to take on the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Michigan, for their annual Homecoming game. With both teams searching for their first Big Ten win, the Wolverines beat the Nittany Lions 21-18.
As always, our photographers captured all the highs and lows.
Under clear skies, the country’s biggest stadium set the stage.

The Nittany Lions arrived at the Big House.

Dressed in its signature road whites, Penn State warmed up.

The clock struck 3:30 p.m., and it was officially game time.

After a long first drive, the Nittany Lions put points on the board first with a field goal from Ryan Barker.

Josiah Zayas. Remember the name.
Zion Tracy and Zayas both recorded interceptions in the second quarter, sending Michigan’s starting quarterback Bryce Underwood to the bench.

Strong defense throughout the first half kept Penn State ahead 3-0 at halftime.

However, the Nittany Lions couldn’t get any momentum in the third quarter.
Rocco Becht threw two interceptions on back-to-back Penn State drives, both leading to scoring drives for the Wolverines. The Nittany Lions trailed 14-3 with 15 minutes left.

Penn State fans do know how to travel. Some also have strong opinions.

After being held scoreless since its opening drive, Penn State found the end zone early in the fourth quarter when Carson Hansen dove in for a touchdown.
The Nittany Lions then went for a two-point conversion, and Benjamin Brahmer secured the score.

With the clock winding down, Becht fumbled the ball, giving the Wolverines possession on Penn State’s 25-yard line.
The Wolverines answered with another touchdown, putting the Nittany Lions down 21-11 with just under three minutes remaining.
Becht connected with Chase Sowell for a 24-yard touchdown pass, cutting the deficit to three with one minute left.

But alas, after a failed onside kick, it was another week, another loss.
The Wolverines notched their first Big Ten win, while the Nittany Lions remain winless in conference play.

Penn State will enter its bye week at 3-4. The Nittany Lions will return to action on October 31 against Purdue at home.
