Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 6 Roundup

After another disappointing loss for Matt Campbell’s crew against Michigan on Saturday, the Nittany Lions in the NFL might be the only redeeming factor of Penn State football these days.

Even with big names like Tyler Warren, Saquon Barkley, and Micah Parsons out with injuries, Week 6 still had plenty of action.

Here’s how some notable former Penn State players did this week.

Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars

Brenton Strange caught five passes for 44 yards as the Jaguars lost to the Houston Texans on a last-second field goal.

Strange and fellow Nittany Lion Parker Washington are tied for the team lead with 26 receptions.

Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars

Washington hauled in four receptions for 64 yards in the Jaguars’ loss to the Texans.

In addition to being tied with Strange for receptions, Washington leads the team in receiving yards with 416.

Jahan Dotson, Atlanta Falcons

Jahan Dotson made three catches for a team-high 87 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons’ 31-23 loss to the Chicago Bears.

The 2022 first-round pick is on track for his best season since his rookie year.

Nick Scott, Carolina Panthers

Nick Scott was a major piece of the Panthers’ defense as they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 25-14.

The eight-year NFL veteran recorded six solo tackles and defended a pass in the Panthers’ victory.

Zakee Wheatley, Carolina Panthers

Like Scott, Zakee Wheatley also played a big role on the Panthers’ defense.

The rookie safety made four tackles, including three solo, and defended two passes to help his team take down the Eagles.

Arnold Ebiketie, Philadelphia Eagles

Arnold Ebiketie led the Eagles’ defense with nine total tackles, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Panthers’ offense.

Ebiketie doubled his season tackle total with this performance.

Jaquan Brisker, Pittsburgh Steelers

Jaquan Brisker also made significant contributions to his team’s defense.

The 2022 second-round pick made seven total tackles, including a quarterback hit, as the Steelers earned a 26-19 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Joey Porter Jr., Dallas Cowboys

After not recording a stat in Week 4 and missing Week 5 due to illness, Joey Porter Jr. put his name in the box score for the first time as a Dallas Cowboy on Sunday Night Football.

The four-year NFL veteran made three tackles, including one tackle for loss, and defended two passes in the Cowboys’ 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Odafe Oweh, Washington Commanders

Odafe Oweh made three tackles, including a sack, in the Commanders’ 23-17 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

Other Notable Performances:

  • Jordan Stout launched five punts for 271 yards in the New York Giants’ 34-27 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
  • Pat Freiermuth caught two passes for 11 yards in the Steelers’ win.
  • Chris Godwin caught four passes for 37 yards as the Buccaneers fell to the Steelers.
  • Blake Gillikin punted three times for 124 yards and pinned one inside the 20-yard line as the Arizona Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Rams 18-16.
  • Ji’Ayir Brown recorded five tackles, including four solo tackles, in the 49ers’ victory.
