Nittany Lions In The NFL: Week 7 Roundup

Penn State football might be off this week, but the NFL season is still chugging along.

With star players like Tyler Warren and Micah Parsons sidelined with injuries and several teams on byes, it was a relatively quiet week for Penn State alumni.

Here’s how some former fan favorites performed in Week 7.

Ji’Ayir Brown, San Francisco 49ers

Ji’Ayir Brown made five tackles, including two solo tackles as the 49ers fell to the Atlanta Falcons, 29-20.

Brown leads the team in solo tackles and ranks second in total tackles.

Kevin Winston Jr., Tennessee Titans

Kevin Winston Jr. recorded eight solo tackles and 14 total tackles in the Titans’ 27-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns. The second-year safety led the game in total and solo tackles.

Winston is currently third on the team in both solo and total tackles.

Chop Robinson, Miami Dolphins

Chop Robinson made two tackles, two quarterback hits and a sack in the Dolphins’ 28-25 victory over the New York Jets.

Robinson’s second sack of the season ties him for the lead on the Dolphins’ struggling defense.

Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Chris Godwin caught four passes for 27 yards as the Buccaneers dominated the Carolina Panthers, 43-13.

With star receiver Emeka Egbuka dealing with an injury, Godwin has become the Buccaneers’ top pass-catching option.

Nick Scott, Carolina Panthers

Nick Scott made seven total tackles, including four solo tackles, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Buccaneers’ offense.

Mike Gesicki, Cincinnati Bengals

Mike Gesicki was targeted just once, but he made it count. The tight end caught a 6-yard touchdown in the third quarter for the Bengals’ first score in a 35-13 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Gesicki needs to find the end zone again to match his career high of six touchdowns. He is currently tied for the team lead with five.

Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles

Saquon Barkley rushed seven times for 62 yards and a touchdown as the Eagles fell to the Dallas Cowboys, 38-21. Barkley also caught two passes for 9 yards.

The 2018 second-overall draft pick was battling an injury throughout the game and was declared questionable in the fourth quarter.

Other Notable Performances:

  • Pat Freiermuth caught two passes for 20 yards in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 16-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
  • Juwan Johnson hauled in one pass for 7 yards as the Saints lost to the Steelers.
  • Jahan Dotson recorded one reception for 6 yards in the Falcons’ win over the 49ers.
  • Zakee Wheatley recorded one tackle and defended a pass in the Panthers’ loss.
  • Mitchell Tinsley caught his only target for 7 yards in the Bengals’ win.
  • Abdul Carter made four tackles, including two solo tackles, as the New York Giants defeated the Houston Texans, 27-21.
  • Jordan Stout launched four punts for 199 yards and pinned one inside the 20 for the Giants.
  • Blake Gillikin punted five times for 180 yards and pinned one inside the 20 as the Arizona Cardinals fell to the Denver Broncos, 30-16.
  • Joey Porter Jr. recorded four tackles and defended a pass in the Cowboys’ victory.
