Penn State Football Wide Receivers Koby Howard & Chase Sowell Questionable Against Purdue

Penn State football wide receivers Koby Howard and Chase Sowell are questionable for Saturday’s game against Purdue, per the Big Ten’s Wednesday availability report.

Howard has been back at practice with the team, but Matt Campbell said Wednesday that he doesn’t want to play Howard if he isn’t at 100%.

The standout wide receiver hasn’t played a Big Ten snap yet in 2026, but Campbell’s words have been encouraging for a return soon as Penn State pushes for bowl eligibility.

Sowell is also questionable alongside defensive end Alexander McPherson and tight end Brian Kortovich. Sowell and McPherson both had media availabilities to open the week, which makes it hard to believe they won’t play on Saturday.

Kortovich has appeared in every game for Penn State so far in 2026, but he is also questionable against the Boilermakers. He hasn’t recorded a stat.

Safety Jeremiah Cooper, defensive end Yvan Kemajou, and defensive tackle Armstrong Nnodim are all expected to suit up on Halloween. Defensive tackle Alijah Carnell is doubtful. He missed Penn State’s opening two contests and the Michigan game.

Penn State is out Joshua Johnson, Christian Askew, and Tyler Armstead at cornerback; Max Granville and Mason Robinson at defensive end; Alex Tatsch at linebacker; Omarion Davis at safety; Will Tompkins at offensive line; Cooper Alexander at tight end; and Cristiano Rosa at kicker.
