Former Penn State women’s hockey star Tessa Janecke earned a spot on Team USA for the IIHF Women’s World Championship, USA Hockey announced Saturday.

Janecke will be one of 25 United States representatives at the world championships set to take place in Herning, Denmark, from November 6 to 16.

She has played in 56 games for the United States, tallying 20 goals and 26 assists in the process. It will be her fourth IIHF Women’s World Championship. She and Team USA took home gold medals in 2023 and 2025. She scored the championship-winning goal in the latter.

Janecke and the United States most recently won the gold medal at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, where she became the first Penn State athlete to win a Winter Olympic gold medal. She dished out five assists in seven games during the competition.

Janecke is Penn State’s all-time leading scorer in both men’s and women’s hockey, with 201 points and 89 goals.

Team USA will play four games against Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Czechia in its Group A matches. If it qualifies out of the group, it will start the knockout rounds on November 13 in the quarterfinals.
