Penn State Field Hockey Earns No. 3 Seed In Big Ten Tournament

After an electric second half of the season, Penn State field hockey has earned the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten tournament.
Penn State is 12-5 overall and 6-2 in the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions will take on No. 6 Iowa, which beat Penn State 1-0 on October 25.
The Nittany Lions ended the regular season Friday against No. 1 Northwestern with a 2-0 upset win. While a high point of the season, that was just one of multiple ranked victories for Penn State this season.
In October alone, the Nittany Lions took out No. 19 Lafayette, No. 18 Michigan, No. 13 Indiana, and, of course, Northwestern.
“I think all of September is what prepared us for that run in October,” head coach Hannah Prince said before the Northwestern game. “We had a pretty strong strength of schedule, obviously, throughout the course of the season, and even though we suffered a few losses early on, they taught us a lot and gave us confidence and tools to learn from.”
If Penn State beats Iowa, it will face the winner of Ohio State and Maryland before moving to the championship. Penn State lost 4-1 to Maryland earlier this season, but beat Ohio State in overtime.
The Nittany Lions are set to start the Big Ten Tournament against Iowa in Columbus, Ohio, on November 4 at 5 p.m.
