South Atherton Street To Be Closed Monday For Construction

State College’s already busy streets will face another road closure on Monday.
South Atherton Street, which sits between the two parallel downtown streets, West College Ave. and West Beaver Ave., will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to allow a crane to lift elevator equipment onto the Graduate by Hilton hotel.
According to the official detours posted by PennDOT, eastbound traffic will follow West College Ave., South Buckhout Street, and West Beaver Ave. to return to Atherton Street.
Westbound traffic heading toward State College will use East Beaver Ave., High Street, and East College Ave. to return to Atherton Street.
Pedestrian detour signage will also be posted to direct foot traffic accordingly.
Flaggers will be at Atherton Street intersections with College Ave. and Beaver Ave. to direct traffic, and emergency vehicles will be allowed through the closed area if necessary.
The closed area already sees heavy traffic due to construction of the first condominium hotel, Nittany Residence Club, at the corner of Atherton Street and Beaver Ave.
