"From my philosophy-of-higher-education point of view, I found that there was a lot not to like about Spanier’s approach to University governance, and at first I resolved to vote against him."
This year, however, I do not recommend voting for a ticket. We need Gavin Keirans on the Board. He is the best candidate I know who will thoughtfully and fearlessly tackle the issues that face our Penn State family.
On March 12, the Penn State Board of Trustees released a statement offering a new reason for firing Joe Paterno, this time focusing on Paterno’s alleged “failure of leadership.” Let us therefore examine who was supposed to lead in the situation.
We shall need a little time to recover. But while we are regrouping, it is essential to ponder one thing: that the legacy of Joe Paterno does not end with his death, with his funeral, or even with the conclusion of his commemoration service.
