Yesterday, the Penn State Men’s Hockey Team (@PennStateMHKY) and head coach, Guy Gadowsky, hosted their first media day as a Division-I team, where they discussed everything from the team’s first varsity practice to their first NCAA season opener this Friday, a home game against American International.
This weekend was one for the history books: Football earned its first win over a ranked team under Bill O’Brien and the now-NCAA women’s hockey team recorded both its first win and loss ever as a varsity team. Elsewhere in Penn State athletics, men’s soccer tied Michigan at Ann Arbor and field hockey and women’s soccer picked up wins at home, while women’s volleyball knocked off yet another two teams.

Penn State’s fall varsity sports teams produced a mixed bag of results this weekend. Women’s Volleyball continued its dominant run and Women’s Soccer eked out a win over Minnesota, but field hockey fell to Northwestern in overtime while Men’s Soccer was defeated by Indiana.
On September 14th of this year, the Michael P. Murphy Veterans Plaza, located between Old Main and McAllister, was unveiled and dedicated. Yesterday, the Plaza bore the marks of alleged vandalism--what seem to be tire marks from BMX “wall-rides”.
