Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! No, the Bryce Jordan Center won't be having a monster truck rally this weekend, but just about the exact opposite, actually. If you're a bride- or groom-to-be, if your friend or relative is, or if you're looking for something completely different than the Penn State-Eastern Michigan football game, then stop by the BJC from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday, September 25, for the 2011 Pennsylvania Wedding Showcase.
I'll show you how friendly Alabama fans are. I saw it in Tuscaloosa last year. They don't deserve the same kind of dirtbag treatment we'd give to Ohio State or Notre Dame. When you're in the stadium on Saturday, make as much noise as you want, and yell whatever you want to 110,000 people who can't make out your brilliant taunt, but don't confront people in crimson on the street and tell them they suck.
Freshmen, on your way back home from a long day of classes, you can stop by the East Halls Quad from 5-7 p.m. for Freshfest, hosted by the University Park Undergraduate Association.
Instructors and course editors will now be able to see your face, thanks to a new feature from ITS that links the photo on your Penn State ID card to your profile in ANGEL. Of course, that's just about the last photo you'd probably want your professors to see anyway. Hopefully, though, you look nothing like you did at freshman FTCAP, so you don't get sniped for sleeping through your ASTRO 001 at 8 a.m.
Today is an important day; it's the first day of classes, where the new ideas begin to flow through your head and flourish again. Either that, or you're nursing a wicked hangover, and already dreading that ten-page paper you're going to have to write on why Ayn Rand was such a miserable frump. Depending on how it's going for you, you might already be looking down the barrel of a painfully long semester. But there's a glimmer of hope--what you can get excited about is the opening of attendee registration for TEDxPSU 2011.
You're about to be plopped down into the middle of 44,000 people, roughly ages 18-22, all within a 4.5-square mile area, without many friends. It's daunting, but exciting too. There are limitless possibilities here. Read more advice after the jump.
