After all the talk of varsity hockey making its way to Penn State last month, something snuck up on us: The Icers, our club hockey team, has finally started playing again!
Thanks to a couple of fantastic efforts from goalkeeper Krissy Tribbett, the Nittany Lions' women's soccer team was able to get their season back on track with wins over Northwestern and Iowa over the weekend.
While Penn State's offensive and defensive lines were getting pushed around on Saturday afternoon, other teams were doing the exact opposite and making statements that were heard across the nation (see South Carolina and Michigan State). Speedskating legend and eight-time Olympic champion Apolo Ohno, 2010 bobsledding gold medalist Steve Mesler, and Paralympic gold medalist April Holmes will be speaking at the Atherton Hotel this Wednesday night, October 13th, at 7:00 p.m. to talk about their experiences and commitments and how they have helped the communities they serve.
One week after posting a 1-0 victory over Michigan in their Big Ten opener, the tables were turned on the Lady Lions this past Sunday as they dropped a gut-wrencher to Ohio State by the same score, this defeat coming in overtime.
