Work for Jobs?

Do you love Apple and are currently looking for a job post graduation? Then this is your lucky day! According to Twitter (and to a lesser extent Nittany Lion Career Network), there is an info session on Thursday night at 6:00pm in 112 Thomas for the Apple Store Leader Program.

That is right! Apple will be here at Penn State for an information session regarding this job posting. The Apple Store Leader Program is "a 24-month immersion in every aspect of managing and operating an Apple Retail Store." It seems like a great way to launch a career, especially if you are interested in retail.

Seems like a great way to kick start your resume and work on your leadership skills. It also gives you a chance to be a part of one of the coolest and most respected companies in the USA! Maybe even you'll get close to Steve Jobs' inner pot-smoking, yoga-practicing circle! Apply here!

The Dark Side of Sun Corp

For those of you looking for a place to stay downtown, please be sure to never rent from Sun Corp. This situation is slightly unlikely, though, as Sun Corp owes federal payroll back taxes dating back to 1998,which accrue to $1.3 million. As a result, the IRS has seized two of the properties which belong to them.

What is it like renting from Sun Corp? Read on for some online testimonies from previous tenants.

Overheard on Twitter: The World Loves THON

So here at Dear Ol' State, THON seemed like such a long time ago. Only one week ago we were preparing to dance for the kids. This isn't stopping the world (and Glenn Thompson) from catching on to the greatness that is THON, though!

Borough Council vs UPUA: Lights on Garner

Once again, the State Borough Council and UPUA do not see eye to eye. UPUA is opposing a borough council plan that would turn off the pedestrian lights for the next 6 months as a trial and use us students as guinea pigs.

UPUA Chief of Staff Matthew Smith had this to say regarding the turning off of lights.

The lights are valuable to students," he said. "We want to be included in the dialogue on this issue."

He is right. Students should be allowed to bring up their concerns about whether or not the lights are turned out. According to Tom Fountaine (the Borough Manager), crime has actually risen since the installation of lights. Also, council member Theresa Lafer claims that the lights flood into residents' homes and cause students to trespass.

According to Lafer:

"The lights are bringing students into the backyards of citizens"

Thankfully, the option to turn all the lights off was overturned. I suppose the danger of students going into the backyard of citizens was overshadowed the the prospect of an increase in assault. Now the borough can get back to working on more important matters - renaming buildings and streets in honor of local and national figures.

Do you agree with this? What if we replaced all of the street lights with the Bat Signal?

Girl I see at 3pm on campus most days - m4w - 23 (PSU)

I know we never talk, because you'd probably never talk to me. But in all fairness I went through a lot of trouble finding out where you live and I've been parked outside with binoculars for like 12 straights hours, can you at least pull your blinds up or something? Hope this isn't a problem but I feel like I deserve something for all of this effort.

Also could you bring me some hot chocolate if you see this? Gas is expensive and I had to turn the heat in my car off a few hours ago. It's quite unpleasant in here. Temperature-wise that is. Dave Matthews Band helps pass the time, no complaints there.

The good old stalker trick. Never grows old. What if you followed the wrong person home? What a waste of gas.

Indie Spotlight: FOTO

Right after the electric Go-Go-Gadjet set, I managed to interview Andrew McGough, one of the founders, and finance executive chair for FOTO. He was kind enough to leave his team in the final hour of THON and answer my questions.
