
It's been far too long since our revered former President Graham Spanier has been in the news. That changed yesterday when the Harrisburg-Patriot News reported that Spanier would be working on national security projects for the federal government.

Last month Governor Tom Corbett signed the new Pennsylvania Voter ID bill into law. The legislation -- an apparent gross infringement on democracy -- raises the barrier to vote by requiring all voters to present ID at polling stations starting this November.

Anyone who follows the history of UPUA certainly has a soft spot in their heart for Gavin Keirans, who served as UPUA President for two terms from 2008-2010. And today, former President TJ Bard and current President Courtney Lennartz tweeted pictures of a special package they received from Gavin.

The students have spoken, and with 44% of the vote, Courtney Lennartz was elected UPUA President today.
Lennartz, along with running-mate Katelyn Mullen, were seen as the natural front runners from the start. Lennartz served as UPUA Vice-President for this past assembly, and although she had her flaws, the other two tickets were unable to throw her off her game during the two week campaign.

It's a UPUA elections tradition unlike any other -- election day breakfast at the downtown Waffle Shop.
