There have obviously been talks of transfers and the reality of the sanctions has already sunken in to many players, and even questions of changing the uniforms have risen -- but none of that was relevant this morning.
"Penn State has the obligation to be a national leader in preventing child abuse," says Charles Ferrer, a rising PSU senior who has created a petition for stronger child abuse reporting laws.
What many have yet to realize is that this scandal will always be a part of our lives. Penn State will always be linked to this scandal, which is certainly a tragedy. But instead of complaining about the constant bombardment of questions and arguments from those on the outside, take your frustration and fuel it to do something for a victim. Write a letter of support, buy a "blue out" t-shirt, volunteer for the Centre County Women's Resource Center, or help out with a local hotline for reporting abuse.
Whatever you do, though, think of the victims first. It's time for Penn State to become a leader again.
Although he's been writing raps and poetry since 8th grade, Marc-Jean began his rapping career in high school, when he started making up raps in his head on the way to school. One night at a house party he rapped over the music playing for 3 hours while people kept yelling topics at him. Afterwards, someone told him to take his career to the next level, and he began recording the next weekend.
The halo above Joe Paterno's head on the Heister street mural entitled "Inspire," was removed this morning by artists Pilato and co-worker Yuriy Karabash. The paint was still drying as Karabash said that this morning was simply "tough." The halo had originally been added after Joe Paterno's death earlier this year.
The Code Blue program began last fall as a way to generate some more pride for Penn State Athletics. The mission of the program, according to its official website, is "to build awareness and attendance in support of Penn State varsity student-athletes by their fellow classmates, and to reward those students who make that extra effort while demonstrating the traditional Penn State values rooted in team loyalty, spirited competition and respectful sportsmanship."
