The Palmer Museum of Art is about as artsy as Penn State gets. Every year it houses the SOMA Arts Crawl, and people are pretty excited about the whole “they have a Picasso in there” thing. I went there today and within the first ten minutes I saw not one but TWO men wearing berets. If that's not artsy, then I guess I just don't know what artsy is. For those of you who want to feel mega-cultured but are too tired to actually walk all the way there, I did you a solid and compiled a list of the craziest things worth seeing
It's unusual to have much real debate at UPUA meetings. It's even more unusual to have a piece of legislation fail to pass through the assembly. But that's exactly what we had last night at the weekly UPUA general assembly meeting as our student government debated funding for the annual Movin' On music festival.
If you've ever seen a colonial man making his way toward Jeffrey Field with a vuvuzela in tow, you were not hallucinating. Instead, you were witnessing the epitome of women's soccer fandom heading to his natural habitat.
The United States government may have shut down this week, but UPUA was chugging along as usual. The bylaws were fixed, a policy was passed, and another policy was recommitted. All in all, it was the kind of night dreams are made of.
Though no legislation was actually on the agenda this week at UPUA, a small miracle happened, and legislation was in fact passed. Hallelujah.
Penn State Homecoming Executive Director Bobby Walter spoke at tonight's UPUA meeting to address an ongoing nuisance Homecoming is facing thanks to a vocal minority of the alumni base. According to Walter, a small group of alumni is upset about the decision to have former Penn State basketball star and human rights activist John Amaechi serve as Grand Marshal for the parade.
