UPUA Budget Commission Leadership Ousted After Communication Breakdown

It was a brisk April night outside the third floor of the HUB Robeson Center when the University Park Undergraduate Association passed the legislation to fund a budget commission of their own. And now, the commission is left in shambles after communication problems put the leadership of the commission at odds with UPUA leadership.

UPUA Meeting Sees Budget Commission Dissolved

It was everything you could ask for in a UPUA meeting and more -- no-holds-barred debate on leadership organization and parliamentary procedure regarding a budget commission, unanimous votes (surprise, surprise) on legislation, and powerpoint presentations on both a revamped housing database website and a partnership with the Princeton Review for test prep courses. Truly tantalizing stuff.

UPUA Runs Out of i>clickers, First Meeting Tonight

Everyone's favorite student government organization, the University Park Undergraduate Association -- or UPUA -- will hold their first general assembly meeting of the semester tonight. Expect an unusually large turnout of six students at this evening's meeting as there is some hefty legislation on the agenda that will be debated and voted on.

Recruiter Turnout At Career Days Up Nine Percent

Despite everything that has happened over the last year, job recruitments for Penn State students is looking better -- not worse -- than it did last fall. Penn State's Career Services announced that the 2012 Fall Career Days will most likely see a nine percent increase in company turnout from last year's career fair, jumping from 500 to 545 potential employers in attendance.

UPUA Speaks Out at Borough Council Meeting

But in all seriousness, the State College Borough Council did a good thing this week. The controversial Pennsylvania Voter ID Law was upheld by the courts last week, which requires voters to show ID's at the polls, and potentially disenfranchises thousands of voters who didn't have the foresight or means to obtain proper ID. Borough Council decided to hold a public forum where citizens could come and voice their opinion on a council resolution that would condemn the new law.

Bill O’Brien Contract Automatically Extended Four Years

According to the Centre Daily Times, Bill O'Brien's contract as head coach of the Nittany Lions football team has been extended four years until 2020. This comes as part of an agreement with athletic director David Joyner when O'Brien first signed with the school that allowed for automatic extension equal to the number of years that the team may be sanctioned for.
