In Midst of Sandusky Scandal, Life Went on for Lion Ambassadors

Imagine trying to sell a product to consumers while just about everybody else in the world is bashing it. This was not supposed to be a real scenario; it was not part of the description when you volunteered for the job. Keep in mind that this is not some new innovative product without a track record, quite the contrary actually, as it has existed for over one hundred fifty years. It has been amazingly good to you. Currently, a few people associated with the product have tried to bring it down.

TEDxPSU Inspires PSU

In light of recent events, the organizers of this year's TEDxPSU may have been concerned that the event might get lost in the fray. Despite it all, the community made a strong showing yesterday, filling up much of the allotted space in the HUB. Attendance probably should have been even higher since it was definitely worth seeing. The theme was Relics to Revolutionaries, and speakers including Michael Mann, Mia Bloom, Ian Rosenberger, and Joseph Michael Valente who covered topics as diverse as cyber charter schools, the involment of women in terrorist organizations, and making art from Twitter feeds.

SPA Distinguished Speakers: Robert Ballard

How does a 5 hour commute to and from work every day sound? That's just the average time if you're going underwater at a depth of 12,500 feet. Though a vast majority of people can expect never to go that deep underwater, Robert Ballard is one of the lucky few.

Men’s Basketball Downs Hartford in Season Opener

It's easy for me right now. Everyone's on my site when I haven't lost a game yet." That quote was said to me by a joking Pat Chambers after an October 22nd practice, the season opener still three weeks away at the time. After one game, the phrase rings true as Penn State (1-0) defeated Hartford (0-2) 70-55 Saturday afternoon at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The Nittany Lions are back in action tonight at home against the Radford Highlanders from the Big South conference who enter the contest with a 2-0 record. Freshmen will receive free admission, and hot dogs will only cost one dollar. If that is not enough motivation to come to the BJC, the Nittany Lions currently have a better record than perennial Big Ten power Michigan State. Sure, maybe the Spartans opened against top ranked North Carolina, but does a little detail like that really matter?

Update: Penn State Leaders Contact Staffs and Students

In the wake of this week's tragic events, a number of Penn State administrators took to email in order to share their thoughts with the community. We have collected as many as possible and put them into the same post. Check it out after the jump.
