For one Saturday in Beaver Stadium, it wasn't about winning or losing, it wasn't about Joe Paterno, and it wasn't even about football; It was about coming together as one. Some have publicly voiced that this game shouldn’t have been played. What good would that have done? The Penn State football team lost its first game under Tom Bradley's tenure to Nebraska 17-14. A packed house of 107,903 left disappointed from a game that meant more than just what happened on the field after the Jerry Sandusky scandal rocked the university.

The fans packed Beaver Stadium. The student-organized "Blue-Out" was a success. There were emotional moments, as well as exciting moments as Penn State took on Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. Here is a recap of some of the best/most touching moments after one half of play today.

I stood among over 10,000 students, alumni, and State College residents in what was the most beautiful gathering I’ve ever been a part of. So many times this week, we’ve been distraught about our now controversial coaching legend and have forgotten about the chief issues at hand. For about an hour, it wasn’t about Joe Paterno and football, it was about the victims of the Sandusky child abuse scandal and their families.
