New Era, New Attitude: Hoops Madness to Usher In Basketball Season

If Penn State had hired an even-keeled men's head basketball coach after Ed DeChellis's departure last May, Penn State might have done away with their pre-season basketball pep rally, as many schools across the country have in recent years. However, Pat Chambers has just a little too much energy for all that, so in conjunction with the Penn State women's team, the programs will hold "Hoops Madness" on November 2 at Rec Hall.

Penn State football

Observations: Purdue

During debate on the proposal, it received significant criticism from within, passing by a relatively slim 25-15 margin. It wasn't until the morning after that most UPUA members realized what they were getting themselves into. Academic Affairs Chair John Zang realized the negative implications immediately, but was on the short side of the voting Wednesday. And starting Thursday, he heard all about it.

Penn State Wins Homecoming Game, 23-18

In a crazy game that featured three turnovers, several huge special teams plays and wind gusts reaching 52 miles per hour, Penn State was able to pull out a 23-18 win over Purdue. With the win, the Nittany Lions improve to 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in the Big Ten.
