Forum Speaker Series Announced

The lineup for the 2010-11 Forum Speaker Series has been formally announced, and it contains a wide array of speakers who will be visiting Penn State this year. While their names may not be readily recognizable, these folks will be speaking about some pressing, diverse issues.

EcoCAR Team Hosts Science Camp

Penn State's award winning EcoCAR Advance Vehicle Team will be showcasing their work at Science U Camp this morning. The team's car recently won third place at the 2010 EcoCAR challenge out of 16 teams from various North American universities. In addition to giving a presentation on the vehicle, the team will be giving campers a chance to build their own vehicles from fuel cell kits.

If you want to stop by and check out the car for yourself, you can stop by the Hybrid & Hydrogen Vehicle Research Laboratory of the Larson Institute from 9 to 10:15 a.m.

Greek Newspaper Comes to Penn State

Attention all Greeks! A newspaper entitled, "The Odyssey" will be released this fall semester for all to read. If you're Greek, you may have seen an email in your PSU inbox from your IFC President passing along the word from Ben Prigal, the publisher of "The Odyssey".

The main purpose of The Odyssey is to express the positive aspects of the Greek Community. The newspaper will give a platform for Greek life, all the writers are from the Penn State Greek system. The Odyssey is a niche lifestyle publication that showcases the benefits of Greek life.

Greeks Post Higher GPAs Than PSU Average

Yesterday Dr. Roy Baker, Director of Greek Life, released the Greek Community Academic Report for spring 2010. The report breaks down the average GPAs for all Greek organizations and compares them to University averages, based on statistics given to the Office of Greek Life by the University Registrar.

PSU Drops To #3 in Party School Rankings

Just a year ago, Penn State was given the meaningless distinction of #1 Party School by the Princeton Review. After a tumultuous year, where we saw the tragic death of Joe Dado, the 'This America Life' podcast and the endless controversy over meaningless faux drinking holidays, Penn State has been dropped to #3 and the University of Georgia has been given the #1 spot.

THON Night Heads to Philly After PSU Game

With last month's THON Night at the Pirates Game being such a rousing success, the Penn State Dance Marathon is at it again, allowing the Keystone State's other baseball team to help support the cause with THON Night at the Phillies game. On September 4th, the Phils will take on the Milwaukee Brewers and proceeds from online ticket sales to the game will be donated to THON.
