A question that always leads to some interesting debates.
Do executive officers of organizations deserve the amount of money that they receive every year?
On Wednesday, the Collegian reported that Penn State President Graham Spanier was ranked 6th nationally among public university presidents in terms of annual base salary for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. In total pay compensation Spanier ranks 18th among the same group.
My question to the Onward State community is whether his $590,000 salary is too much.

I don’t know if you guys have heard of this movement on campus to get tree swings put up but it sounds awesome.
The idea came to Samuel Borchers and Stephanie Herbstritt after swinging around on one at a local college by Sam’s home town. Initially, the two planned on buying the materials themselves and having friends help them install the swings under the cover of night, but eventually they decided they wanted the swings to stay hung once they were up, so the duo took their plan public.

The Week In Review is a new feature where I get to serve up the best of a week's worth of Onward State stories. The following stories have been chosen both by their popularity by readers along with staff favorites between January 16th and 22nd.
The top post from this week was 10 Questions With Russ Rose. Take a look at the interview to find out about Coach Rose's 'look'.
One of the more popular Questions of the Day was this week's question on themed parties. There are some pretty cool parties mentioned in the comments, it's worth taking a look.
As you may have read, the University Park Allocation Committee recently made a decision on SPA's request to use some of its standing allocation on food. I know that when I heard about the UPAC's decision, I was a little bit confused. Does this mean I get free pizza at the Minus The Bear concert? Will Ben Stein be giving out hotdogs at SPA's expense?
Thanks to some info from some helpful folks over at the UPAC, the matter was cleared up for us.
According to their emails, it appears that the decision was based on a recognition of SPA's need to offer hospitality in order to keep bringing in exciting acts. Therefore, the UPAC decided to meet SPA's need in this regard, as well as offering food funding for other standing and regular allocations as well. So, no free pizza at LateNight. But, hopefully this means that the SPA will be able to keep bringing in ballin' acts. You can count on me being at Minus The Bear, free pizza or not.

We featured some Google Streetview imagery back in late December of downtown State College. Finally, Google has posted up their imagery that was taken of the Penn State campus from a slightly different photo-taking platform. At last, I can look back at my Freshman Dorm (Pinchot Hall) or the building I spent so much time in, for many years to come. Click this link to see a map of Penn State. Drag the man shaped icon from on top of the zoom bar to the area you want to see the Streetview imagery for. Read on for some sweet highlights.

Who doesn't want to go somewhere for less than $300 over spring break?
Habitat for Humanity is hosting seven spring break trips to help in the fight against substandard building. Students will be spending their breaks helping Habitat for Humanity build homes for those who cannot afford it. In addition, they will be enjoying beautiful weather and hospitality. Many locations are located near large cities or beaches.
Read on after the jump for more information on this great opportunity.
