Super Bowl XLVI Commercial Critique

Even if you didn’t really care who won the Super Bowl this year, you more than likely watched the year’s biggest television event. Super Bowl XLVI featured more of the same traditions American sports-lovers have come to expect: tailgate food, football jerseys, yelling at the television screen, Madonna trying too hard, and good commercials.

Lady Lions Eke Out a 68-65 Win at Minnesota

Key 3-pointers from Alex Bentley and Zhaque Gray, along with a team-high 20 points from Mia Nickson propelled the Penn State women's basketball team past Minnesota on Sunday. The 68-65 victory kept the Lady Lions, who have won seven of their last nine games, in the hunt for a Big Ten regular season title. Next up is a home game against Wisconsin on Thursday.

Men’s Basketball Drops Fourth Straight to Iowa

Venues not named the Bryce Jordan Center have not been kind to the Men's Basketball team so far this season. That themed continued on Saturday as Penn State (10-14, 2-9) fell to Iowa (13-11, 5-6) by a score of 77-64 at Carver-Hawkeye arena in Iowa City. The game was not as close as the final score indicates as Pat Chambers' squad dropped their fourth straight game. One has to go back to February of 2010 to find the last time a losing streak of that nature existed.

Lady Lions Cruise to Victory Over Indiana

The Penn State women's basketball team cruised to an easy 76-44 victory over Indiana on Thursday night. Maggie Lucas led the way for the Lady Lions with 24 points in the win. Next up on the schedule for Penn State is Minnesota on Sunday. The Golden Gophers are stuck in the middle of the Big Ten standings, but they do have some signature wins on their schedule, including a big win over No. 9 Ohio State. The game in Minnesota will be a tough one, but one that the Lady Lions need to win in order to keep pace at the top of the Big Ten standings.

Penn State Weekend Sports Preview

With no basketball action on campus this Super Bowl weekend, there is still plenty of action for sports fans to occupy their time on campus to pass the time before the Big Game.

Penn State Loses Defensive Battle to Wisconsin

Tuesday night's matchup was a physical battle reminiscent of the 36-33 Penn State victory over Wisconsin in last year's quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament, but, unfortunately for the Nittany Lions, this time they would not have the same fate. Penn State (10-13, 2-8) led the entire game until there were about 15 minutes left in the second half, but stagnant shooting proved to be too much to overcome as Wisconsin went on to win 52-46 in front of a large student crowd.
