Alumnus and longtime donor Paul T. Stecko has committed to donate one million dollars to the Football Excellence Fund. His donation will benefit the team locker room inside the Lasch Building. The locker room will now bear the Stecko family's name.

Seven team captains have been named for the 2014 season, including sophomore quarterback Christian Hackenberg. Hackenberg is the second youngest Nittany Lion captain in school history, and the first sophomore to ever have the honor.
