
The proposed law would make it a first-degree misdemeanor for any hazing that “causes or risks causing bodily injury,” a second degree felony for hazing that “causes or risks causing serious bodily injury,” and a first-degree felony for hazing that “results in the death of the victim.”

The start of the preliminary hearings on refiled charges for 11 former Beta Theta Pi brothers in the Tim Piazza case has been delayed from its originally scheduled Thursday start until Friday due to the winter storm that has hit Centre County.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office has dropped felony aggravated assault charges and some involuntary manslaughter charges against eight former members of Beta Theta Pi fraternity in connection with the death of Timothy Piazza.

“It is imperative to note that the university and the national would not have been able to hold individuals or the collective group accountable if a report had not been made.”

This makes Alpha Chi Omega the only sorority to be suspended since Beta Theta Pi pledge Tim Piazza's hazing death in February 2017.
