
It's one of those things about college, like a particularly boozy night or where your freshman writing classroom was, that, looking back in 20 or 30 years, you will not remember, but at the time seem particularly important (especially where the classroom is). Snagging a high-profile commencement speaker, these days, is seen as a sign of cachet, a way to set a university apart. There are slideshows of the best college commencement speakers of 2012. Penn State... will not be on that list.

Valley Magazine has done it again, and with a better venue. Compared to the cramped conditions of Campus Candy last year Valley Magazine's The Walk 2012 Spring Fashion Show was held in the newest addition to the State College downtown night scene, Levels, as it allowed 18 and older to attend, with 21 and older to drink. The Penn State TOMS Club is hosting today a One State Without Shoes event in conjunction with the TOMS One Day Without Shoes. This event is to raise awareness of the major problem in shoe deficiency in foreign countries by walking an entire day without shoes.

Williams, a senior majoring in aerospace engineering and Vice-Chair for Region II of the National Society of Black Engineers, discusses what motivated him to apply for emcee and what he hopes to accomplish in this position after the jump.
