
A candlelight vigil will take place tonight honoring the second anniversary of Joe Paterno's death.

Common, a Chicago-based rapper, actor, and motivational speaker will be coming to campus on February 10th as a part of SPA's distinguished speaker series. The rapper, known for songs like "Universal Mind Control", "The Food", "The Light", and "Go!", will instead be speaking at Eisenhower Auditorium at 8 p.m.

Youtube celebrity Joe Penna, better known as the Mystery Guitar Man, typically produces comedic music videos for his 2.8 million subscribers. This week, Penna -- a self-described space nerd -- decided to break the mold of his recent uploads by producing a feature on Penn State's Lunar Lion, the university's entry in the $20 million Google Lunar X Prize competition.

Last Friday's Board of Trustees meeting yielded little major news compared to most Board meetings, at least publicly. But there was one piece of good news that came out of President Rodney Erickson's remarks at the beginning of the meeting: Penn State applications are up, and up big.

It's been 18 months since the Joe Paterno statue last stood in the shadows of Beaver Stadium, but a least one Penn State trustee (and undoubtedly several of the alumni trustees) hope to see the former coach honored once again in bronze, but perhaps in a different location.

Board of Trustees candidate Ryan Bagwell began the "Sunshine Fund" to help finance his fight with Penn State in court over open records. As of yesterday, Bagwell said he is $5 away from reaching $13,000 in total contributions. After deducting credit card and PayPal fees, the fund’s net contributions total $12,641.
