Everyone knew from the start that Joe Amendola had a difficult task ahead of him, and now seven months later, all he can do is wait.

It's only been eight days -- far less than most people had anticipated -- and the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse trial is already coming to an end.

Several additional character witnesses were called this morning, including a former Second Mile participant who had only positive interactions with Sandusky.

In what is expected to be the final day of testimony for the defense, several key potential witnesses have yet to take the stand. Dr. Jonathan Dranov -- who was told by Mike McQueary about the shower incident with Victim #2 on the night it happened in 2001 -- was the first of these highly anticipated witnesses to testify.

Following Dr. Atkin's testimony, Jerry Sandusky's wife of 45-years Dottie took the stand. Amendola began by questioning her about the time constraints that came with being a Penn State football coach, and the frequency of the visits of Second Mile children to their home and on trips. Mrs. Sandusky said that the sleepovers were more frequent during football season.

Former Penn State wrestler James Martin was the first witness to testify after lunch recess. He says that he and Sandusky became "very good friends" because the football and wrestling teams lifted weights in the same room. Martin says that when he was in medical school, he stayed over at his house for a month for a residency.
