The petition, started by Penn State student Nick Buttgereit, demands the university grant "this privilege" to deserving seniors.
"Silly choice..... seniors deserve one last time in Beaver stadium. Freshman have 3 more years."
Throughout the afternoon, Penn State will close its parking lots and ban tailgating in an effort to "minimize congregating."
In-person events are strictly optional and available for those who feel comfortable moving forward with them.
Penn State students' already-difficult semester got even harder Wednesday morning when the university announced the HUB's Chick-fil-A will close later this spring.
