In many ways, State College is a lot like Texas. Whether its a Saturday morning tailgate or a Bryce Jordan Center concert or a simple end-of-year bar tour, we do things big in this town. For that reason, it is only fitting that State College is the home of an endless number of spots to enjoy drinks. With a lot of bars comes a lot of bar controversy and favoritism. So our staff decided to fill you in on our favorite State College bars and why we love them so much.

University to Hold Memorial Service for Vice Provost Terrell Jones

Penn State has announced that it will hold a university-wide memorial service in honor of former Vice Provost for Educational Equity W. Terrell Jones on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center.

Jones passed away on August 19 after a battle with cancer, after being on medical leave for several months. A champion of diversity, he lead the university's implementation of its strategic plan to support the issue. Jones was known to speak to Sam Richards' SOC 119 class from time to time, which centers on race and ethnic relations.

Police Investigating Assault At Delta Sigma Phi

State College Police are investigating an assault that reportedly occurred early Wednesday morning in the basement of Delta Sigma Phi, in which the victim suffered facial fractures and eye injuries.

Penn State Ranked No. 29 In AP Poll

Penn State wasted no time climbing to the edge of the AP's top 25 this season after its weekend victory against UCF. Despite opening the year only receiving five votes in the AP Poll for No. 46 placement in the country, the Nittany Lions are all the way up to No. 29 this week and receiving 49 votes.
