The administration took the easy opportunity yesterday to announce its support for affirmative action in college admissions as the U.S. Supreme Court sent a case questioning the University of Texas at Austin's policies back to a lower court.

The surveys are in and the result is clear -- Penn State students are consuming alcohol at nearly the same rate as they have over the last six years, despite widespread university efforts to to combat the drinking "problem." Penn State Student Affairs Research and Assessment recently released its annual report on alcohol which randomly surveyed 1,174 Penn State students about their drinking habits in college. The results are similar to that of the survey's origin in 2008.
For freshmen, navigating campus and figuring out what to do for fun can be extremely challenging, particularly during a season when there are far fewer people to ask questions. So, Onward State's upperclassmen compiled a list of summer do's and don'ts, taken from past observations. (We were all freshmen once.)
