Late Medal of Honor recipient and Penn State alumnus Lt. Michael Murphy will be recognized on Saturday when a destroyer will be named in his honor. Murphy was a 1998 graduate of Penn State and, according to Penn State Live, is the only Penn State alumnus to ever receive the Medal of Honor.

Penn State alumni Frank and Janet Dudek committed $2.5 million yesterday to the University to support several academic units. The donation will help establish scholarships, support research and purchase laboratory equipment for the College of Agricultural Sciences, the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences and the Eberly College of Science.

Candidates for the 2011 election of trustees by alumni were announced at this morning's Penn State Board of Trustees meeting. The election, which will be conducted entirely online, begins April 10 and ends May 12 at 9:00 am.

According to a post from The Hockey News, billionaire Terry Pegula has signed a letter of intent to purchase the Buffalo Sabres. Earlier this year, Pegula donated $88 million for Penn State to start men's and women's D1 hockey programs (including the endowment for staff and scholarships to support it).
