Penn State Men’s Soccer Signee Frankie Westfield Inks Professional Contract

Penn State men’s soccer signee Frankie Westfield has signed a professional contract with Philadelphia Union II, the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union, the club announced Friday. Westfield, a defender, had been signed to play for the Nittany Lions since December 2023 but will now be ineligible to play NCAA soccer.

Westfield had played his academy ball with the Philadelphia Union Academy and the YSC Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Westfield had earned call-ups to the Union II for some time and made 25 appearances for the team with 24 starts in 2023.

In 2024, Westfield has started in all 15 matches for the Eastern Conference-leading Union II. He’s registered four goals and five assists as a left back, while the Union II have conceded the fewest goals in MLS NEXT Pro.
