Old Boy Band Gives It Another Go

New Kids on the Block, most famous in this day and age for LFO name dropping them in Summer Girls, will be coming to the BJC on March 24 as part of their 2009 tour. The group is composed of Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood, and Donnie Wahlberg, older brother of Mark Wahlberg (aka Marky Mark from Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch).

With hits like “Hangin’ Tough,” “You Got It (The Right Stuff),” “Cover Girl,” and “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time)“, I’m sure some of you grad students out there would love to snatch up the $25 dollar student tickets to this show.

They released a new album creatively titled “The Block” with the single, “Summertime“, which I’ve actually heard. I can’t see many students going to this show, unless it’s just to say they’ve seen New Kids on the Block, because personally, when the group broke up in 1994, depending on what month they did so, I was three or four years old. Even seniors would only have been eight… maybe a little young to get boy band fever. Our generation was reared on the Backstreet Boys, *NSync, and  Spice Girls. A feature of this show that might cause ticket sales to rise is that the JabbaWockeeZ, winners of America’s Best Dance Crew  and Gatorade advertisers (with a Lil’ Wayne voiceover), will be performing as well.

Senior Writes Final Column

Senior columns, with all their melodrama and platitudes, usually leave me eye-rolling and shaking my head with a vigor usually reserved for study abroad blog posts. But, as I graduate a week from today, I figured I should give it a go myself. Rather than discuss the origins of Onward State like Evan,  I’d just like to briefly thank a few individuals who have defined my Penn State experience.
