Committee Spotlight: Finance

I was fortunate enough to catch Genevieve Micek, Sam Rager and Bob Long during their shift,  getting people to donate to THON. They were kind enough to answer some of my questions.

OS: What does your committee do?

Sam: We count all the money from donations. All the money raised from checks, canning weekends etc.

Genevieve: All our work is done before THON. All we are doing now is trying to get people to still donate. (You can see a trend here. PLEASE DONATE! ITS FOR A GOOD CAUSE – Hasan)

OS: How many years have you been involved in THON?

Genevieve: This is my third year in THON.

Sam: This is my first year.

Bob: I am just a freshman, so this is my first year here.

OS: What is your favorite part of THON?

Genevieve: The last 4 hours are my favorite. You get to enjoy THON after a hard weekend, and we finally get to see our work materialize.

Sam: I just love seeing the kids and how excited they are to be here.

Bob: Everything. The line dances, the kids, students and the parents. The cohesion here at THON shows that love belongs here.

OS: Why did you get involved?

Genevieve: I did not get involved my first year, but came here. I was blown away by how huge and important an event THON is. After coming here my freshman year, I knew that THON was something that I wanted to do.

Sam: I came to THON for the first 2 years and then wanted to get more involved with THON, so I joined a committee to help out.

Bob: I was up here during the THON weekend last year, when I was still a senior in high school. A friend brought me here and showed me the importance of THON and told me to get involved. Finance is my major and being part of the finance committee – its like a perfect match

OS: How long will you be here this weekend?

Sam: We are required to be here for at least 8 hours.

Bob: We are hoping however to make the pep rally and the last four hours as well.

OS: What song do you hope they play this weekend?

Bob: Sandstorm! My favorite dance song of all time

Sam: Elevation by U2.

Genevieve: Anything by Beyonce would be great!

OS: How would you rate your dance skills?

Genevieve: I am a phenomenal dancer! I would not go so far as to say I rate a 10, but definitely an 8 or a 8.5.

Sam: I am way too tall and kind of bad. I would rate myself a 3.

Bob: 10! I am not afraid to show it either.

OS: What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen so far this weekend?

Bob: The human tunnel. The energy was just amazing the whole way from the Multi Sports Complex to the BJC.

Sam: I have to agree. It is real cool to see how fired up the dancers were on the way to the BJC.

Genevieve: It is cool getting to see the line dance from up here. You get to see everyone do it and its just amazing.

OS: If you were a dinosaur, what kind would you be? And why?

Genevieve: A Pterodactyl. I can fly!

Sam: Probably a Brontosaurus. It matches my height.

Bob: A T-Rex. It is just so cool.
