Greek Profile: ATΩ and ZTA

We caught up with ATΩ Secretary CJ Koluch (the American speedo “Single Ladies” guy!) and ZTA President Kim Sargent for a conversation about THON, their families, and ways to get every eye in the BJC on you.

OS: First off, how many dancers do you guys have, and what families do you support?

Kim: 10 dancers, five each. We also have two other members dancing for other organizations: IFC and Off-Campus Student Union.

CJ: We support two families: the Schweitzer and Haas families.

OS: This is tough, but how would you describe THON, in one word?

CJ: Amazing.

Kim: Inspiring.

OS: How many years have you both been involved with THON?

Both: Two years.

OS: What first inspired you to get involved with THON?

CJ: ATΩ is really involved with THON, so at first you get inspired by other guys’ stories , being at family hour… you want to make a difference any way you can.

OS: What is your favorite part of THON?

Kim: My favorite part is being here in the stands, and our dancers can look up at any time and see our entire organization standing, supporting them.

OS: Where is your favorite place to can?

Kim: [Laughs] I’m not sure we should reveal that.

CJ: We’ll say a special intersection in Baltimore.

OS: How long will you be here this weekend?

CJ: 35 hours, total.

Kim: 20 hours.

OS: What song do you most want to hear this weekend?

CJ: Single Ladies [‘Nuff said]

OS: How would you rate your dance skills?

CJ: 10/10 [It was at this point that CJ revealed to me that he was the individual who had claimed THON fame by dancing in the stands in naught but a American flag speedo and a fedora. He was wearing the fedora during my interview. A 10/10 rating is an understatement in this situation.]

Kim: I don’t have his confidence! 7/10.

OS: What’s the coolest thing you’ve seen so far?

CJ: Our THON children, and that they are well and healthy.

Kim: All of our new members experiencing THON for the first time.

OS: Finally, if you were a dinosaur, which one would you be?

Kim: Pterodactyl.

CJ: Those little dinosaurs that hop around [ We both couldn’t think of the name of the dino. With some research, I believe he meant the Compsognathus, affectionately called ‘Compys’].
