Youngstown State Preview

Youngstown State: 0-0

Series record: 1-0 (Penn State won the last meeting 37-3)

Head coach: Eric Wolford (1st season, 0-0)

Players to watch: WR Dominique Barnes (8 TDs in 2009),  OG Eric Rodemoyer, QB Kurt Hess

Analysis: Penn State’s defense is hungry, and Penguin is the main entree. The 2010 defense is deep at every position and will boast a rotation of six linebackers who all have game experience. Similar to Penn State’s situation, Youngstown will be putting freshman Kurt Hess under center against a Penn State defense that led the Big Ten in sacks last year.

The story all week, though, has been about Penn State’s freshman quarterback Robert Bolden. The four-star recruit has all the potential in the world, but will have no success if the offensive line does not gel. The line, which has a different starter at every position from 2009, faces a stiff defensive line and an experienced group of linebackers. If they can keep kid Bolden, as well as Kevin Newsome and Matt McGloin, on their feet, it should be a good day for the Penn State offense.

Wrestlers Rebound with a Sweep in Michigan

Well that’s more like it. After getting trounced by Iowa last weekend, which snapped a 13-match winning streak, the Nittany Lion wrestlers rallied back with two convincing victories over Michigan State and Michigan this weekend. The first stop of the road trip was in Lansing Friday night where they mauled the Spartans 30-9. Then they headed back to Ann Arbor for a 28-13 beating of the Wolverines.
