The scene at the East Halls quad on Wednesday, September 8th, looked more like a party than an event for UPUA.
Students swarmed around picnic tables covered in blue and white tablecloths. Dance music blasted through speakers. The smell of hot, cheesy pizza wafted through the air.
Of course, this was the idea. UPUA was not blind to the fact that free food and music would attract students, and that was their goal. Through the event, deemed Fresh Fest, UPUA hoped to reach out to freshmen as a way to get their name out to the incoming class.

Sometimes the legal system that we put our trust in fails the most vulnerable members of society. Many times it is for something simple, like a disputed traffic ticket. However, when the death penalty is the sentence, the government needs to be 100% certain that no innocent people are wrongly found guilty, unlike the case of a Texas man who was featured in the New Yorker.
Today members of Amnesty International on campus brought light to a most egregious violation: That of the case of Troy Davis, who was sentenced to death for a 1989 murder of a Savannah, Georgia police officer.

Today from 3:00 to 5:00 in East Halls Quad, the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) will be hosting Fresh Fest, a new event to familiarize the Class of 2014 with the UPUA. Fresh Fest will feature live music, free food, speakers, and the chance to meet their student representatives, including UPUA President Christian Ragland, and many other UPUA members.

The sixteenth-ranked Lady Lions soccer team arrived in dreary Connecticut this weekend and came back home in a even drearier mood as they lost two one-goal games Friday and Sunday, falling to Yale 1-0 to open the weekend and UConn 3-2 in overtime in the finale.

Maybe I took one too many glowsticks to the head, but last night at the State Theatre, The Disco Biscuits brought the house down with their stunning jam rock.
The Disco Biscuits, a well-known band to the State College area, began playing around 9:30 as fans decked out in tye-dye and sunglasses rolled into the aisles. But there was something amiss.

The men's soccer team went 2-0 and won the Wolstein Classic in Columbus, Ohio this weekend to start the season on a strong note.
