46 hours and $9.56 million later, Penn State is unmistakably changed by THON. However, some are so dumbfounded that they no longer have anything else to talk about. Words literally escape these desperate THONers, they are at a loss for words. Join Marcus and I as we try to get to the bottom of this puzzling dilemma.
We covered THON 2011 around-the-clock through our THONward State special edition this past weekend. Our liveblog, livetweets, and other posts in aggregate this year marked an unprecedented amount of THON coverage for Onward State and it was our pleasure to bring it to you. We've compiled everything we've published about THON 2011 into a single post. Check out what you missed after the jump.
Just wanted to publish another great media suite from the Daily Collegian. This trio of videos was produced by Beth Ann Downey, a sister of my sister in Delta Gamma (shout out!). They profile Robbie Sheil, who has gone from cancer to dancer. Check them out after the jump.
Oh, you didn't know about this? Neither did I. What's the difference? We both think that tuition needs to be kept under control. We don't want to have to drop out of school because we can no longer afford it. This is important, right?
Well, covering student government is my job. I've been hearing the words "rising tuition" like a broken record. So when the fact that the aptly-named March Against Rising Tuition snuck up on me at tonight's Onward State staff meeting, I couldn't help but think, "How could they have done such an awful job promoting this purportedly crucial event that I, who've been trained to cover this topic for months, didn't know about it?"
I did know that the event existed. I got a Facebook invitation way back, but put it in the back of my mind, and with no reminder from anyone, it crept up on me until I realized it was only a day away.
Last weekend, the Penn State men’s volleyball team won both of their matches and coach Mark Pavlik earned his 400th and 401st victories. After beating Mount Olive on Friday, the Nittany Lions beat Lees McRae on Saturday.
The Nittany Lions now enter the toughest portion of their schedule that features three road matches against conference foes and three matches in California. Next week, Penn State faces off against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Wednesday before playing George Mason on Saturday.
