Swardson’s Film Career Explodes in a Burst of Laughter

Fans of Comedy Central are no strangers to the stand-up comedy and sketches of Nick Swardson. Will Ferrell's "Funny or Die Tour" at the BJC in 2008 brought Swardson here for the first time. He appeared once again in 2009 to open for Patton Oswalt performing in the HUB. Now that Swardson has branched into the acting world, he has had little time to tour colleges but still found a moment to discuss his career while doing interviews for his new movie, "Just Go With It," starring Adam Sandler.

Roller Derby: The Ovarian Fist

The Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, State College Area Roller's derby debut, lived up to its' name yesterday evening. Members of the FBI's Hoover's Honeys and the Mafia's Machine Gun Kellys participated in the scrimmage, slamming and hammering into each other. There haven't been this many tumultuous females in one place since the women's suffrage movement.

Rumble in the White Building

This past Saturday, Penn State's boxing club held its first home show of the season, with hopefully more to come. Boxers representing Penn State faced many opponents from many schools, including West Virginia University and the University of Maryland, as well as independent boxers from the Altoona boxing club. Most impressive were the women representing Penn State boxing. They came out of the corner swinging and did not let up for all three rounds, surely impressing everyone in attendance.

Music Mondays: Love Is in the Air

You've probably already had your Twitter feed and Facebook page blown up by the countless Valentine's Day posts, so I'll promise you that this isn't a cheesy love song playlist to serenade your lady. While some songs may loosely relate to the holiday, let's be honest, most songs have some underlying love theme.

Whether or not you have someone to celebrate with, here is this week's top tracks to play to get a little post-VDay action.

Playoff Fate Looms for Icers After Weekend Split

With a playoff berth on the line, the Penn State Icers took on Robert Morris (Pa.) last weekend. After taking the first game on Friday night, the Icers fell in game two on Saturday. Next up for Penn State is a trip to Rhode Island to play in the ESCHL Tournament, where they will play Delaware on Friday.

We Want Your Best Canning Stories!

THON would not be possible without the hardworking efforts of everyone who took to the streets to go canning. Braving the cold, soliciting drivers, and coming up with the perfect canning dance are all challenges that canners must face in the search for that $20 dollar bill. But with all the challenges come memories that you'll remember forever.

So now, with a week to go until we storm the BJC, we'd like to take a look back at this year's fundraising season. We want to know:

What are your favorite canning stories from this last canning trip, or from this year?

Share your most memorable, emotional, or funny moments in the comments (or, if you have a longer story, send it in to the Community section!).  We'll feature the best stories in a post over THON weekend!
