The Daily Collegian published a neat news app today that allows readers to create and submit their own solution to Penn State’s budget crisis. It’s well worth a click.
I do not envy the commonwealth’s budget position, and I recognize that Governor Corbett entered his position with a structural budget deficit over $4 billion in time with the expiration of federal stimulus funding. I also recognize that Governor Corbett aims to improve the efficiency of the commonwealth’s operations and avoid raising taxes for Pennsylvania’s citizens. My major initial concern is the budget’s apparent concession to short-term pressure and neglect of the long-term promise of higher education.

The headlining acts for Movin' On 2011, Penn State's Spring Music Festival, were announced this morning on B94.5 FM. According to the festival's website, Movin' On has been a Penn State tradition since 1974 and has provided acts such as Wilco, Fall Out Boy, Run DMC, Talib Kweli, and Ben Folds Five.
