Lady Lions to Play Dayton in NCAA Tournament

It was a certainty that the Penn State women’s basketball team would make the NCAA Tournament–it was only a matter of figuring out the details. On Monday, the Lady Lions learned that they would face Dayton on Saturday at 11:10 a.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State earned the six-seed in the Philadelphia region. Dayton is the 11-seed.

Penn State finished 24-9 this season and advanced to the final of the Big Ten Tournament, where they lost to Ohio State 84-70. The Lady Lions will take on a Dayton team that they have already faced once this season. On November 12, the Lady Lions traveled to Dayton for their first game of the season. A crazy game and two overtimes later, Penn State prevailed 112-107.

Penn State last made the NCAA Tournament in 2005, when they lost to Liberty in the first round. This year, they get to host the first two rounds. If the Lady Lions beat Dayton on Saturday, they will host the winner of DePaul-Navy on Monday at approximately 7 p.m.

Tickets are available now and can be purchased at the BJC ticket office or by calling 814-865-5555.

Lady Lions Bow Out of NCAA Tournament With Loss to UConn

In the end, the Conecticut women’s basketball team was just too talented. The Lady Lions fought until the final whistle, but it was not enough to even come close. The Huskies dominated for almost the entire 40 minutes in a 77-59 victory, knocking Penn State out of the NCAA Tournament.
