Smeal Ranked Top 15 Globally in UTD Research Rankings

Another day, another impressive ranking for Penn State’s Smeal College of Business.

Penn State finished 15th among all U.S. and international business schools for “scholarly research output” in a ranking compiled by the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD).  Smeal was #2 among public schools and #5 globally when faculty size was factored into the rankings.

Smeal narrowly edged UTD for 15th with an overall score of 76.50, and wasthird, behind only Michigan (3) and Northwestern (13), among the ten Big Ten schools ranked.

More from the Penn State Live article:

The annual UTD business school rankings are based on the number of faculty bylines appearing in 24 leading peer-reviewed journals from 2006 to 2010 in the fields of accounting, management, management information systems, marketing and operations management. The rankings have been published since 2005.

In the management journals alone, Smeal ranked seventh worldwide and sixth nationally.

The list of the top 50 business schools includes 10 of the Big Ten schools and six Ivy League schools. Twenty-six of the top 30 schools are located in the United States.

The full rankings can be found on the UTD website.
